    Dros new reciever as pistol?

Can Leo's still dros a new stripped receiver from manufacturer as a pistol? I purchased one from aero, just wondering if this is still the case.

I'm interested in this as well. I have two Mega pistol marked stripped lowers that were DROS'ed as pistols back in the end of 2016. Not sure what I can still do with them other than build them out as rifles.

Yes, I just recently bought a complete lower as a pistol a few months ago.

I would recommend anyone thinking about doing this do it while it can still be done with California changing etc I predict just a matter of time till more exemptions are removed.

Yes, just ask the FFL to fill out the DROS as a pistol. Easy squeezy!

That's the impression I was under to. Local ffl says no(but was not exactly sure), my regular ffl i use out of town says yes.

Your local FFL is either uninformed or afraid of dealing with the DOJ. This is the same as purchasing an off roster pistol. The DROS should state semi-auto handgun.

Only piece I'd like to add is when a vendor ships a "firearm" into California, they fill out a DOJ shipping approval form..that has to designate the firearm as a "long gun" or "handgun"...Plenty of vendors will tell you "we ship it out as 'other'...which doesn't work because the DOJ form doesn't have 'other' as an option..the shipper has to say what it was SENT as...which is ultimately what the FFL will dros it as. Aero is a company that I had to tell repeatedly, "make sure it's listed as a pistol when it ships" and they did.

So how does one build up an AR pistol in CA now...or you guys getting ready for a favorable Rupp/Miller decision?
