Portland update, no mutual aid

Portland has been letting these fools run roughshod over the city, and pretty much do as they please for a couple years now, and it has steadily gotten worse. Seems like there is no plan to change anything other than a wish and a prayer.
You have to truly feel sorry for the cops up there trying to hold some type of line but being betrayed by everyone who is supposed to be supporting them. I don't think I could blame them one bit if each and every one of them just didn't show up. Of course we all know that won't happen. -
The quotes on this story on Police1.com are priceless.Comment

Their free pass from accoutability was confirmed in Summer 2018 during "Occupy ICE" when the Mayor told PPB to stand down and not respond to calls for service at the ICE federal bldg. Mayor also said he agreed with the protestors and wanted ICE out of Portland as well, hence no police response.
Fast-forward to today and basically the same thing has happened. Mayor agrees with the BLM/antifa rioters and will not "un-cuff" PPB and cooperate with Fed LEOs to put an end to this. Now they finally realize its getting away from them because it is now personally affecting him (Mayor Wheeler).
No one wants to help and be put in harms way if people who commit crimes and assault LEOs wont be prosecuted.Comment

Can you imagine the court cases that would follow, if something went south for either side, with officers operating OUTSIDE their primary jurisdiction?!
I'm CERTAIN some lawyers helped head this OFF at the pass...

Great. I’m glad the sheriff and other law enforcement leaders are not subjecting their deputies and officers to this continued abuse. I watched some CBLM leader yelling in officers’ faces with a bullhorn. Everyone of those officers should do IOD paperwork for hearing damage.Comment

And why would I send my deputies over there to potentially be prosecuted for some made up use of force by some dumb *** prosecutor who lets out everyone that gets arrested for rioting.Originally posted by czakitaFully agree with Sheriff Roberts decision and especially his comment, "“Increasing law enforcement resources in Portland will not solve the nightly violence and now, murder. The only way to make Portland safe again, is to support a policy that holds offenders accountable for their destruction and violence.”sigpic
