Santa clara county peace officers association range

Anyone here a member? My dad has been a member for years and has never been to their pistol range. We are thinking about heading up there one of these weekends.

Does it get really busy on the weekends?

It is labelled as a handgun/pistol range. In the rules form it specifically says no rifles. I understand the reasoning on no rifles (backstop and noise) and am not asking about rifle calibers. However can someone bring a pistol caliber carbine or a 12 guage shotgun, or a .22 rimfire carbine?

"The following are not permitted on this range: rifles, fully automatic firearms,
armor-piercing bullets, incendiary bullets, tracer bullets, trigger activators,
exploding targets, and any firearm that does not comply with state and federal
    laws."

    Any input/experience would be great.

Reading further on their webpage (not in the rules section) it appears to lay out CLEARLY that it is handgun only.

"The pistol range (handguns only-no carbines, rifles, etc.) is located approximately one mile past/above the campground."

So it appears I have answered my own question. Looks like we will abide by the rules as written and just bring some handguns. If anyone has any further information about this place let me know please.

Haven't been in many, many moons. Was always a good range.

I make it twice a month. During the week only. Weekends can get busy (or not!). Depends on who may be camping and what groups are there. Always good. Handguns only.

It’s a great range, even has a full fledged bathroom which is amazing considering it’s in the middle of the mountains with no cell reception.

It is a pistol range. So pistols only, although you’ll see 556/308 brass on the ground sometimes (answers the question of what the heck is chewing up the steel targets). There are some people who live nearby and who do call when it’s excessively noisy (shooting higher calibers/beyond sundown).

I do follow the rules to a T because I don’t want to be part of the problem if the range ever gets shut down. FYI, if you go, make sure you bring your dad or have your pass with you if you’re a member. Couple weeks ago, there were a group of 6 guys messing around, none of whom had passes and were promptly kicked out by the range maintenance guy

Been going there since i was 10!!! Now I bring my kids up there.
Yes you can bring shotguns all you want and .22 rifles.
The only problem with .22 rifles is that 98% of the people shooting there are shooting handguns from the 10 yard line. Its difficult to basically clear the entire range to shoot your rifle.

This has only happened to us twice, both times on the weekend. Now with the COVID stuff we just go during the week and its empty.

Just please pick up your 22 brass. I know its a pain in the *** but we pick it up on the work weekends.

Thanks all. That answers a lot of questions. I bought a new holster for my sp01 and one for my bhp. A little holster work this weekend should be fun with my dad.

Hello, it is a great range, and maintained well, but please handguns only. Responsible members, and guests are always welcome. A handful of volunteer Work Party members, work very hard every month so members/guests can enjoy. Stay safe.

ok I am heading up aug. 20th for my birthday. First trip. Only bringing handguns, I want to be responsible and respectful. What do I need to bring? Paper targets, stapler, painters tape, sharpie, first aid kit, gun, ammo, holster, water, snacks. Can you think of anything else I may need? I'm used to public ranges where most things are provided. Do they have any of the aforementioned things?
