150 million from the LAPD budget

Any truth to the rumor that the mayor of Los Angeles is cutting the LAPD budget by 150 million and giving it to the black community? Got this from my LAPD nephew.

Well he and the council said it, now if they can pull it off without layoffs is a different thing. I don't think all of the residents of the city will go along with their virtue signaling when it comes down to cuts in police services increases in response time, which are probably not great to start with.

The pandering fool did say that yesterday. He should just get it over with and disband the police department, turn the jails into free housing, and give all the vehicles to those more deserving.

What I suspect is that the field service level will be significantly cut due to a reduction in overtime. LAPD like many agencies is under staffed and somewhat makes up for it with overtime. While a hiring freeze is certainly possible I doubt if there will be sworn layoffs.
