    San Diego Port Police

Does anyone have any insight into working for the San Diego Port Police? How's the pay and what's the work schedule? I looked at their website and it seems like a good place to work.

Well, it’s a job I guess. Boring as all get-go though would be my guess.

It's a sweet gig from what I have heard. Higher than usual pay, specialized maritime training, drug interdiction, work closely with coast guard. They also patrol streer sections of downtown SD/north harbor

Was at a court case where a San Diego Harbor cop was getting fried. He picked up a woman and went with her to a motel room. Her hubby found out later, and she flipped on him and claimed rape . . . Can't remember if he was on duty in uniform when he was with her in the motel room since it's been a few years ago. Word to the horndogs out there, ABR! Always Be Recording when you are with a chick so you can prove it was a false regret rape allegation 20 years later! No statute of limitations on rape claims anymore in CA due to Gov Moonbeam!

Jurisdiction also includes SD Int'l airport due to proximity to the bay. A friend who worked for them used to tell me stories about that drama, like dragging stupid people off of airplanes.

Lol. I just quit my job there

I worked security at San Diego International Airport.

PS thats very rare. If there was an issue we would call the SOC before that person boarded.

Sorry Im not going to discuss specific events there due to security reasons.

They have much better equipment and pay then SDPD. I know they rotate maritime and airport patrols.

SD Harbor PD is one of the highest paying depts in the county. Plus they are one of the few depts in the county that allow their regular patrol officers to wear outer vests. They are a smaller dept that dont dont take on a lot of street hires. Initial training is roughly a year due to academy, boating/firefight training, and FTO. Juristiction is boat units in the harbor, patrol units around harbor dr and pacific hwy area, and SD airport. Patrol officers generally swaps in between those 3 assignments regularly.
