    Highest Paying LA/IE/OC area departments?

Contemplating a move down south so I might actually be able to afford a house in the community I work in.

    Any ideas?

Santa Monica, Anaheim, Torrance, and Santa Ana come to mind.

Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Culver City, Palos Verdes (Need to be a lateral, non-recruits), Torrance, and CHP. BTW, where are you moving from? The Bay Area?

Move to the Central Valley, yes the heat can be bad but some of the agencies around here make some really good money and have some really good benefits. Clovis Police, Fresno Police, Madera Police to name a few you can get a nice house in the $300,000 range.

So your family is in SoCal? There aren’t many places there that pay enough that allow you to buy anything nice without a nasty commute to work unless you have piles of cash saved up. Have you looked anywhere along the Central Coast, like SLO County?

I think LASD pays mod $70,000 to a little over $100,000 per year base salary for deputy sheriffs. Of course sergeants are higher.

Ventura County is the way to go. Work in the city you live or one town over.
