    Simunition Protection

    Hey guys,

For those who participate in simunition force on force type of training, what do you guys wear to protect yourself against those rounds? I've been doing it for awhile and I'm just tired of getting lit up and being left up welts and bruises all over.

    Thanks!
Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...

Guess it depends on your body type..the one time I did it I just had the simunition approved face mask and coveralls. I didn't get any welts, but others I were with did. We were using same gear. I was hit a few times once on my bare hand as well.

From paintball experience in general I would say heavier loose clothing is your best option. Anything more fitting to your body will transfer more energy to you then if it was looser and "crumpled" on the impact. That is my unscientific explanation of why I think it helps.

Last time I paintballed I was wearing surplus BDUs and didn't welt up either.. could be I'm lucky and I just don't bruise easily as well. YMMV.

When I'm the bad guy, I wear body armor, full helmet, cup, and long sleeve shirt with oversize long sleeve sweater over it. Baggy clothes help. It's not THAT bad.

In the military I would wear my MOPP suit during any urban simunition scenarios.

You may need to wear the regular clothes. When you are shot and hit, you will feel it. That way, you will not make that same mistake again. Maybe.

Pain is part of the value.... you don't want an injury- so full head gear and a Cup

Update: I purchased a cheap motorcycle jacket and it worked out perfectly.

Also, I play the bad guy nearly 100% of the time so getting shot at is pretty much gonna happen 99% of the time haha.

I purchased some paint ball gear when I was instructing Sims. I used a paintball mask, neck pro, cup, I usually wore a long sleeve shirt with a hoodie or something. If I was role playing a suspect I would wear my vest under a shirt. Getting lit up with a sims riffle 30-40 times a training sucked.
