This “idea” gives a de facto “CCW” permit to any monster-crook that wants to carry a gun in the car, only to be able to surrender it immediately without going to jail. Dumb idea.

      Absolutely not.

Agree. Being more lenient just to avoid the potential threat makes the law weak and powerless while strengthening those who break it. No way.

Prohibited person gets hooked up. Notify DA of co-operation. Let the system handle it. No freebies for bad guys. LEOS not judges or juries. Do not circumvent the system.

This would be akin to a "buyback" where you can turn in anything without being prosecuted.
WHY NOT? CA IS HEADED THERE ANYWAY. [sarcasm intended]

          A reminder of AB-109,...

          prop 47,...

          prop 57,...

(3 Strikes) became a joke shortly after implementation in 1994, because of DAs playing the system for personal gain,...Then, prop 36 in 2012 gutted it. https://www.courts.ca.gov/20142.htm

Beginning January 1, 2018, mandatory firearms enhancements are stricken. https://www.courts.ca.gov/20142.htm

And as we read this, leftist politicos are working to restore voting rights to felons, even those still incarcerated, so they can vote from prison.

Neglects to acknowledge that "some" DAs are party to "circumvent the system" for personal gain. Before cases ever get to a Judge or Jury.
