Hey everyone, I just received an email from " CRPA Saturdays Newsletter " containing the below information.


DOJ Issues “Notice of Modification” to Proposed Ammunition Background Check Regulations.

After reviewing the below document, I couldn't find any wording of " RETIRED LEO's " in the Exemptions categories.

AMMUNITION PURCHASES OR TRANSFERS

Article 5. Ammunition Purchases or Transfers; Exempted Individualsf Part 2 of the Penal Code, who is authorized to carry a firearm in the course and scope of the officer’s duties, shall present both:
(A) A sworn state, or local peace officer’s credential, and
(B) Verifiable written certification from the head of the agency, as described
by Penal Code section 30352, subdivision (e)(8)(B)(i). The verifiable written certification from the head of the agency expires 30 days after issuance.

(10) A properly identified sworn federal law enforcement officer, who is authorized to carry a firearm in the course and scope of the officer’s duties, shall present both:
(A) A sworn federal law enforcement officer’s credential, and
(B) Verifiable written certification from the head of the agency, as described
by Penal Code section 30352, subdivision (e)(8)(B)(i). The verifiable written certification from the head of the agency expires 30 days after issuance.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the above info??

I decided last year, to apply for and received a DOJ " COE " Certificate.

After reviewing the below document, I couldn't find any wording of " RETIRED LEO's " in the Exemptions categories.

And you won't - retirees have not ever been included in exceptions to the ammo law.

PC 30312 (c)(2) exempts current LE from the 'transfer at ammunition vendor' requirement; (c)(6) exempts FFL03 + COE.

Similarly, 30314 (b)(2) exempts current LE from the import prohibition, (b)(5) exempts FFL03 + COE.
