can anyone recommend some boots that wont ruin my feet after a 12 hour shift? after 4 hours on my feet they are fried so if any one has some first hand reviews of some good boots i would really appreciate it.

Oakley makes some incredibly comfortable boots, although they're of the tactical variety...

        Rocky's are solid as well.

How about you give us an idea of what you have worn and are currently wearing?

I've had some 5.11 duty boots, I can't recall which ones, that were average, at best. I got the Nike SFBs which were a little better than the 5.11s. It got better with inserts, but I was disappointed in those. I got the Under Armour Jungle Rats which were great. The Under Armour Valsetz are similar with more mesh.

I just got the Salomon XA Forces GTX. These have been the best combination between a traditional duty boot and the sneaker type. They're lightweight, pretty comfortable (I'd say the Under Armours are a little more comfortable to me), seem to be quite durable, and are also Goretex/waterproof. I've been very pleased so far.

Loving the Haix air ops. Comfort of a sneaker, protection of a boot.

If you like everything else about your boots, you might try switching out the soles/insoles to something better/custom?

                        I'm unclear on the concept.

Boots for riding that you also wear for work?

Boots for work that you don't use for riding?

What kind of work? Construction, metalwork, office, mixed?

                        Insulated, waterproof, safety?

I used to wear Rocky Boots. I bought 2 pairs and rotated every couple of days. It was light and felt like I was wearing a pair of tennis shoes.

I wear Danner Tachyon GTX's and they're as comfortable as regular shoes but the soles do not last long.
