How long are paper dealer license advertisement plates that existed before 1/1/2019 good for?

I had a truck stop in front of my house today that still had paper front/back license plate advertisements. I'm assuming the car was purchased before the new law took effect (1/1/2019?). If that's the case and it's March should they have already received their real plates unless they are up to no good?

I'm concerned only because they commented on one of the cars in my garage and neither my wife or I recognize the car/driver as someone that lives around us. I drove around the area of our hood looking to see if the car was in someone's driveway, but did not spot it. I am going to check again tonight as well. It's possible they parked in the garage as well.

I have video of the truck and the dealer paper advertisements, but that doesn't help me. Based on the glare in the afternoon the video I have of the driver is not enough to identify him either.

Yeah, they’re not good anymore. Usually 60 days is the max for any temporary registration, which must be displayed in the window.

My paper plates issued on 2-25-2019 have an expiration of 5-25-2019 printed on them. So 90 days. BTW my permanent preferences within 10 days.

I believe that they have until April 1st with the dealer advertising paper plates.

You have the NEW paper plates.
The OP is asking about the old style that just has the dealers name on it.

Just out of curiosity what did they ask about your car? What type of car were they asking about? for instance is it a stealable desirable Honda Toyota for parts or something like a rare old Porsche.
And did they ask your wife, which is more suspicious in my opinion?

Not super rare or super old. It's from 1990 and had a car cover on most of it. Back bumper was exposed.

They did talk to my wife because she was doing some stuff up front...I was inside.

Drives me nuts. My neighbor bought a new Explorer in July and still has not put plates on it! Then his wife gets a new Mercedes SUV in November. Still no plates. Guess they are trying to save on toll road charges.

I got a fix it ticket written off at CHP....it's 90 days. I bought my car November 9th, and January 9th the new registration hadn't come yet, and the tags were expired when I bought it. My best friend is a police officer, and one of my daycare parents is a deputy. They both told me the ticket was bogus and the temp in my window was good for 90 days. So I went to the CHP substation and the desk officer showed me the VC which also said 90 days. So he removed it. DMV is just slow on everything right now because of the new real ID stuff they are dealing with.
