Don't forget that when you're among LEO's many of us are humble and minimize the experience that's gained by most of us during a career even if its a short stint. One year on the street and you can do and see more than an entire corporation of employees. Sell your experience to an employer and they will value your previous service tremendously. I've had a few job opportunities in the private sector come my way that pay far better and a better home life than police work. They specifically mentioned they wanted me to work for them due to my LE service. I've turned them down and I'm still here.....

Seems a lot of medically retired guys around here come back as 900 hour "Investigator" jobs with PD/SO. Still sworn, still serving warrants.

I'm very far from having to worry about retirement gigs, so I'm not up on details.
