Question for LEOs, and seeking advice.

    Hello,
    This is my first post.

    Story:
I ETS'd US Army in '04. I put all my military clothes and equipment away. (basically in boxes, hoping I'd never open until my son grows up)
Current situation- I want money to buy presents for family, so I decided to unpack all those military clothes and gears to sell on ebay and local classifieds as I see people are wanting to buy them still. (unfortunately, many of the clothes didn't make it out as clean as I placed them in storage. damn bugs got in.)
As I looked through my equipment, I forgot I had some 30-round M16/M4 magazines. I quickly googled the legality of these in our half-assed 2A laws in this state of California. I couldn't find much of what I was looking for, except that half of my mags were pre-ban, and half of them is post-ban. (as trying to be as law-abiding citizen, I plan to surrender the post-ban mags as soon as possible to the sheriff office or local police dept.)

I also came across many threads and forums and blogs and random site news that I can "sell" my high-cap mags to LEOs? This is my main question and also seeking advice on what to do with my mags.
If there is really a way to sell this to LEOs? and who do I ask? and If all is possible, could I sell all my pre-ban and post-ban mags to LEOs or just pre-ban? And if not, could I sell these on classified sites and mail them out-of-state?

I have no plans to ever own a AR type rifle as they are too costly, so I have no use for them. I am hoping I could get some funds legally from these mags to buy some presents for my son and daughter. If not, I have no problem surrendering all my mags to LEOs.

Any and all advice is appreciated, thank you.

"Pre/Post ban" has no bearing on them. There is not really a legal way for you to sell them, or even offer them for sale, inside of California. No legal requirement for you to surrender them to any LEO either though.

Get rid of it or permanently convert it to a 10/30 magazine.
      Not worth the trouble.

His mags have been rehomed via legal means.
