    Report Bad/Reckless Driver?

Not gun related at all, but thought I'd ask here.

I was riding my motorcycle today, and this lady on her phone kept drifting out of her lane and into mine. I braked and honked at her, and she flipped me off.

We then turned onto a freeway on-ramp, and she was in the carpool lane going extremely slowly, probably like 15mph. I was in the inside lane, and was going to pass her and get on with my day. She speeds up, and then swerves into my lane like she's threatening to hit me, and then takes off on the freeway, all with phone still in hand.

Had a GoPro on and have photos of her car, license plate, face, and phone in hand.

How do I go about giving this to the police? Will she even get in trouble? (Should I even bother?) I normally don't get too bothered by bad drivers, but this one literally acted like she was going to ram me.

Should try contacting CHP and going to the local office to file a complaint. Show the officer the proof that the lady was driving like an idiot and that you would file a complaint. See where it goes from there.

It was your life that felt threatened.

I would not even bother anymore. CHP will not do much since she did not hit you or commit a "crime".

You can notify CHP but there probably isn't much going to be done.. Your pictures are pretty decent quality; if the rest of the video is good something COULD POSSIBLY come of it but I wouldn't hold my breath. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just realistic.

But if you really feel like she was trying to hit you and the video backs it up; go for it. At least you will know at that point that you did everything you can do.

            CVC 23103.
            (a) A person who drives a vehicle upon a highway in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.

If you feel the driver met this, that’d be a misdo cite. You can sign off on a private person’s arrest. That liability falls on you, obviously.

If you start saying that you felt that your life was threatened, that’s getting into another area.
