Not I... I have some friends that go pretty faithfully and compete in various events but I have yet to go. Sounds like a pretty lame turn of events for you though.Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.] -
I'm curious if someone affiliated with Folsom Shooting Club couldn't arrange a replacement match. At least for nor cal'rs. http://www.sacvalley.orgComment

Not really. For an event that’s been scheduled for over four months, three scentences doesn’t exactly cut it. Cancelling it two weeks out makes it worse. Our dept doesn’t sponsor us with even a penny, so we have to cover all the ammo, parts, etc to prepare for stuff like this. Then when it gets canceled we eat all of it. I guess when someone else pays for stuff it’s easier to swallow.
The “unforeseen circumstances” are controlled burns to cut fire lines on base, which happen the same weekend every year apparently.Comment

I competed in the motocross events for decades. I was pretty successful and my dept would not offer anything either, nothing for parts, travel, gear, tools, nothing, nada, zilch...and IMO, they shouldn't have. I wasn't on duty, I was not ordered to participate, I simply named the dept as my employer and used my dept ID to prove employment to be able to participate in the events.
I understand your frustration at the event being cancelled and I would be irritated too because all of the prep and practice costs your time money. I have had a few discussions over the years with the Powers" of the "Federation" regarding unsafe track conditions and sometimes they would listen and sometimes they wouldn't. I guess it all depends on who is running it at the time. The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it
