Ran across this in some of my old papers a few days ago...

I totally can see it. Sometimes, the memo don't go past the captain for sure, though.

        So true...

My unit was once testing some new tech. Our Sgt wrote up our reviews and passed them up the chain; essentially we said the tech was good but there needed to be some major upgrades to related equipment/policies/etc to be able to use it properly; especially agency wide.

We were wondering why we heard nothing back down the chain in regards to our recommendations until our Sgt. met the big cheese in the hallway by chance one day. Big cheese told Sarge something like, "I'm so glad to hear that the new gear is working out well and with no unforeseen problems. Can't believe we can launch it department wide with no further changes." It was at that moment that Sarge realized he needed to have our progress meetings directly with the big cheese himself.

And that is pretty much how it works. I can remember a LT that was trying to sell us a bunch of BS about how great some new stupid screwed up policy that the Chief came up with was. I told him that we are all adults here, why can't you just tell us the truth, that the policy is screwed up but we are just going to have to deal with it until the Chief sees that it isn't working and changes it back. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.
