Citation question

Good Afternoon,
I received a speeding citation from CHP awhile back, the penal codes written are correct but the officer incorrectly circled misdemeanors instead of infractions, already verified this. I went to my local CHP office and an officer said i can ask a judge for a ticket correction form. My worry is this, i am graduating with my masters this spring and in the application process with several company's that require Background checks. I am worried it could pop up and someone could basically not hire me because it says i have a misdemeanor on the ticket, although it wouldn't state that on my actual record. Does a copy of the paper ticket stay on file at the DMV? Thank you for your time.

Copies of the ticket are retained by the issuing agency and one forwarded to the court. Convictions are reported to DMV. If you’re eligible for traffic school, I would pay the fine, go to traffic school, clear it with the court and call it a day.

Speeding citations are infractions. If you get found guilty it will show up on your dmv driving record as such. What are the actual section (s) you were cited for?

It's a nothing deal. If convicted, it will wind up recorded as the proper charge. Chances are whatever you cited for is only punishable as an infraction anyway, so it'd be impossible for it to be construed as a misdemeanor.

And to answer your question regarding DMV keeping a copy of the ticket the answer is no. Tickets have four copies. You get one, the officer keeps one and the police department and the court get the other two

Every place I have worked only has three copies. Driver, court, PD. Nothing for the officer.

OP, I wouldn't be overly concerned about this. You can always verify with the court, but much ado about nothing.

Pink/original- Office
White-Court
Green-officer
Yellow-violator

This is specific to the agency that cited the OP. Officer keeps a copy in order to write notes just in case the violator decides to fight the violation.
