Not allowed for us. Or our tactical team. But then again, my agency is not very progressive. Heck, we just got M4's.

Management is trying to change, but the old liability argument trumps all.

SSD was allegedly exploring the idea with the MOS system. IDK of the specifics, but there were issues with water and the MRDS (RMR I think). This is hearsay as I do not work for SSD and have not spoken with that particular deputy for some time now.

The MRDS system is relatively new to the LE world and I think it'll be some time before administrations acknowledge the need for it. Heck, not all agencies equip their patrol rifles with RDS's and WML's yet.

            Anaheim PD allows them.

OCSD is supposed to be testing them with the thought of allowing them in the future.

Several Anaheim guys have RMR's. They can carry just about anything they want as far as gun manufacturer, as well. It's a good thing I like my Glock, I have no choice.

Santa Clara PD allows them. I don’t know the policy though. Numerous people switched away from it due to durability issues. Technology might be better now.

I've been carrying RMR's on my duty guns for many years at Anaheim. The gun must be personally owned and approved for use. Many get their own glocks machined or purchase MOS or M&P Core pistols.

There are pros and cons with them but I'd say the pros far outweigh the cons. I'd say we have over 30 officers with RDS equipped guns. To my knowledge, the only dot anyone is using on a duty gun is an RMR but it's not policy.
