    Thoughts on duty belts

Hey, ladies and gents. Wanted to get some thoughts on duty belts.

Right now, I'm running a 2.25" 5.11 Sierra Bravo belt with a Cobra buckle. Clockwise, gear is as follows:

    - Multitool
    - Double cuff case
    - Sidearm
    - Tourniquet with a couple of chest seals, quikclot, and safety cutter
    - empty space
    - SL holder
    - radio
    - spot for an AR mag if I so choose
    - baton ring
    - Taser
    - two mags

It's packed in fairly tight and I'd say I have average real estate.

The 5.11 belt is average in comfort. I'm looking at a stiffer belt like the Volund Gearworks 2" Atlas Micro battle belt (http://store.volundgearworks.com/ind...e-belt-v3.html)

or the US Grunt Gear Pro Grunt battle belt (http://usgruntgear.com/negrpabesywc.html)

or the Emdom/MM CM duty belt (http://www.emdomusa.com/Emdom-MM-CM-Belt-p/eu116.htm)

Obviously there may be more options, just throwing out a few that I'm looking at. Question is has anyone tried these? I'm trying to possibly take some weight off of the hips by getting a stiffer belt. My department allows HSGI style battle belts yet I'm not super fond of them. Some partners wear them and the huge back belt look isn't appealing to me. My department also doesn't allow external carriers so that's not an option.

Has anyone tried a 1.75" scuba webbing type belt and made that work for duty use? I'm just thinking that a narrower belt may help some of the discomfort which is why I was looking at 2" even though it's not a big difference. Also, a belt that could take a belt pad and make it a bit comfier. Any feedback is appreciated!

    As always, stay safe!

I like the idea of external vest carriers tailored to look like your normal uniform (LBPD) and padded belts (aka "battle belts") with suspenders.

Yeah, our approved outer uniform vests (not carriers). Great for cooling off since you don't have to take off and untuck your shirt to get to your vest. I feel only certain body types can make it look right though. I'd love for our department to approve external carriers to take some weight off of our belts. I just don't see it happening any time soon. We should be getting 5.11 uniforms approved soon which will definitely help the pocketbook over the Flying Colors.
