My ID doesn't say authorized to use a firearm but it does state duly appointed peace officer. Also, I have a card with my dept. logo which shows my quarter qualification. Am too wondering if that suffice. Hopefully someone can chime in.

Is there a separate federal ( LEOSA ) license your supposed to apply for to be valid under LEOSA??

Or does yours id card from your department suffice?

There is no separate ID under LEOSA.

To be covered under LEOSA, you need the following:

1) An identification card provided by your agency that meets the content requirements of LEOSA.

2) You must have completed the required firearms qualification for the same weapon type as being carried, within the past year.

I get a letter on letterhead that authorizes carry under LEOSA. The letter has my last qualification date, an expiration date (1 year from qual date), and that I have qualified with a semi-auto as well as a revolver.

Ours is a business card sized card that lists qualification date, used in conjunction with my retired ID that states CCW authorized.
