    Question for LEO's

Hey guys, just a quick question and looking for some basic feedback. I just opened a shop in the Sacramento area and we are offering discounts for veterans, first responders and duty personnel. Is there any conflict of interest for offering LEO's a discount? Is there an issue with any protocols there? I know you are not allowed to offer an active duty officer a gift, but a discount is just our way of showing appreciation. Let me know if what I am doing is ok here. Thanks again!

It is your shop and your policy. There are many businesses that offer discounts unsolicited. I don't think it is against law. Officers cannot ask for discount, but when it is offered un-asked, I think it is okay.

Each dept. normally has its own policies on accepting "gratuities" and "discount" products. It would be a violation of your first amendments rights to NOT be allowed to offer discounts. It's up to the LEOs to be up on their dept's policies, so keep offering discounts and enjoy the business!!!!

There are shops in my area that are LEO only- no credentials, no entering the shop.

Another shop has an unpriced LEO cabinet with standard mags and blue label firearms. No price to not violate MAP and to not annoy customers....

Not a cop- just my awareness

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

            Micro is correct.

Officers are not allowed to ask for a discount.
Most department policies forbid from asking for a discount but there is nothing from stopping your shop from providing discount.
You can always post a sign offering a discount upon presentation of agency ID to verify eligibility.

Ok that is all good to know. I just wanted to make sure that we weren't in any violation. Trying to take care of the people who take care of us!
