Just Applied with CHP, Few Questions!

They are gonna want employment history for last 10 years,id go to social security and pay for a copy of your work history report.the basic physical is nothing.run a lap,do the 100 yd dash,then do some side shuffle bs and some light stuff,unless of course they changed that up.id be worried about the oral interview,gotta get at least an 80.good luck

My advise if you really want to be an LEO, apply everywhere. It's going to take a long time to get a job(especially with the chp). Put applications in all over the place and keep detailed records of when you applied to each(and why you didn't make it). CHP may not like your background, but another Dept might not see things the same way. Don't want to have to start from the beginning in 2 years if things don't work out with the CHP.

I would like to hear why applying everywhere is a bad idea. What is the alternative? Apply at agency 1. Wait about a full year for the entire hiring process to be completed, find out he did not get hired, and only then apply with the next agency?

There is no reason not to apply everywhere.

Best advice I can give is to just be as forthcoming and transparent as you can possibly be. If your background investigator asks you a question and you think to yourself, "hmmm maybe that one time, but I don't think that really counts" just bring it up anyway. It's best to be impeccably honest than come across as any form of deceptive.

Besides what you mentioned, they'll still ask questions about your moral character. Just because you havent been caught of convicted of something before doesn't mean it never happened. They'll ask if you've called in sick to work when you weren't really ill, they'll ask if you have ever driven over 90mph on a public highway, they'll ask what's the most severe crime you have ever committed that was undetected. Just be honest with all of it. Being honest may get you non-selected this time around if you have some adverse behavior that's a little too recent for your background investigator and you can always try again in a year or so, but lying will get you completely disqualified from this agency and any other you try to apply to in the future.

Honesty is key. Be ready to own up to everything you've done. If you can hold yourself accountable and display a great sense of integrity, you'll get to where you want to be.

I applied for two agencies, a local PD and CHP. Now when you go through backgrounds, like Maulerrr said, honesty is key. Trust me, Officers have been truthful about some crazy past situations while going through backgrounds and make it through. Integrity integrity integrity. My process was delayed several times due to the fact I applied to different agencies. Background investigators obtain your background files from every agency you apply with searching for inconsistencies and it can delay your process. I was asked several times during the process why I wanted to work for that specific agency. I was also told ...well maybe you should go work for them instead. The whole I'll take any LE job that will take me mentality does not look good in interviews. Obviously don't put all your eggs in one basket just in case you are dqed. And applying for multiple agencies is ok, but just do you reasearch and be more selective. Go out on some ride alongs, go talk to LEOs. What division did you apply for CHP?

I applied for the Central Division. I definitely appreciate all of the advice and I'll be keeping everything as honest as I possibly can.
