Today, while doing my range qualifications I heard several members of the range staff saying that peace officers were no longer exempt from the standard capacity magazine ban and could not own/use standard capacity mags off duty due to "the new laws".
I had not heard this before, and having read the text of the new legislation saw that both active and honorably retired peace officers are still exempt from "the new laws". This exemption is also clearly stated on the CA OAG website. I was unable to convince them otherwise or get them to cite their source (departmental memo?) for telling us this.
Is anybody else hearing anything like this at work?
