Received some info regarding officer safety and the not-so-good guys looking up your public information online. The information contains addresses (previous and present), phone numbers, family members, etc. The website is familytreenow.com. You can have your information removed. Go to the bottom of the page, select privacy and opt out. You'll be surprised by the information they have on that site. I'm sure there are more websites out there with your information but this is the one that was shared with me. Stay safe.

Figured I post the link for quicker access. The site is not as detailed as others but they post your full address without any black outs. -
Thank you for the heads up.Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...Comment

I had opted out prior to seeing this thread and returned to the site to see if it worked a couple of days later. My info was gone tho there were plenty of people with the same name but a different birthday. I checked the ones whose birthday was close to mine, but all of their relatives were unknown to me, so I guess it worked. Thanks.
Since my last name is not that common, I was surprised there were so many with my first and last name.Comment

Good looking out! Wonder if there is a way to notify surrounding agencies and have watch commander put it out during briefing or some sort of notification to their officers of this issue... Im not LEO but I also wouldn't want my personal info displayed online! Stay safe everyone, and thank you for what you all have to put up with to serve your communities, keep up the good work!Comment

Yes. All the information this particular website makes available is public record. Any person willing to pay another service or person to do the legwork or do the legwork themselves, can get the information.
The fact that the information is available isn't as much of a concern but rather that it's all available in one place, from one simple search, completely for free. This is a good thing for someone who is trying to research their family history, but not such a good thing for people who would rather their info not be available in such a way.
I read an article on this a few weeks ago and sent out an email blast at my department to notify my coworkers about it.
Stepping away from the concern of LEOs to have our public info access limited, this site is also a hugely useful investigative tool for us. In Probation particularly, its often hard to figure out where offenders are living and who their family are for the purpose of either criminal investigations or rehabilitative efforts. Offenders are not always forthcoming (imagine that) so a resource like this is definitely helpful."Far and away the best prize life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." - Theodore Roosevelt
