Rather than making comments in other member's threads I thought I would just start my own thread. For the number of years that I have been a member I rarely confirm or deny that I am a Fed LEO. We'll after 22 years, here goes. I am a Fed LEO and I am RETIRED!!! I turned in my badge, creds, firearm, vest, GOV, ID media, and most importantly, my computer. This is the first Friday that I didn't roll into the office at 5:30 AM and it felt great to sleep in, relatively speaking.
I have to admit that I have/had reservations and mixed feelings. I'm not sure people realize that as a LEO it is not a 9 to 5 job but is rather a lifestyle. I mean even on your days off or during a vacation your spidey senses are still on alert. I have always tried to maintain a portion of my identity separate from my job so hopefully that will help in the transition.
So I have decided to join my wife's financial consultation business and with my 29 years (7 years civil and 22 years criminal) of forensic accounting, I think it will be a natural transition. I also plan to obtain my PI's license so any suggestions on how to go about that in the most efficient manner would be helpful.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. To all the retired guys, I look forward to any suggestions on transitioning. And to all the guys still on the rolls, please be careful!
