Self Sponsor for LASD academy

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has self sponsored through college of the canyons for LASD. I am really interested in self sponsoring myself of course. I'm just not sure of the process. where do I go? how do I start? how do I get in? does financial aid cover some or all of the cost? I really just need the steps to get in and I can do the rest. I went on the campus website I couldn't find anything I have went on the LASD website I cannot find anything. I have called the campus and got no where

Hiya! Check out http://lasdcareers.org/ the recruiters are really friendly and replied to my questions quickly when I was asking questions about pre Academy resources they recommend. I didn't ask about the self sponsoring though. Also check out their Facebook page. A bunch of the recruiters have profiles on there. I'm guessing they would be the best people to ask. Good luck!

I could be wrong but I don't think we take self-sponsors - I think you might have to go to an academy like Rio Hondo, Golden West, Fullerton, etc. Call the recruitment unit to double check. Also, I wouldn't self-sponsor unless that was your last option.

I've never heard of a self sponsor in a LASD academy either. I could be wrong but I know I'm the last 20 classes there hasn't been. Just outside agencies.

LASD academy is for either deputy sheriff trainees or cadets from participating agencies. There is no self sponsored recruits in LASD academy.

LASD does not do self sponsored trainees. Neither does LAPD.

LASD academy only accepts in-house recruits or recruits from participating agencies. Save your time and money, just apply to a department and let the agency pay for your academy training.
