Good luck, stay hydrated and don't become complacent through out the academy.

Just remember they can't hit you in the face, and they'll let you go home at some point. Half the battle is just having the mental strength to show up everyday. The other half is getting through the day. You'll have your ups and downs but as long as you show up and work hard you will be fine. Good luck.

Honestly, police academy was the most difficult event I have ever done in my life. Some might say, "Military bootcamp or testing for special force is 100x harder."

However, in military you don't get to lose your job if you don't make it. However, in LEO academy, you are done if you double tap LD or fail scenario testing.

Especially, if you are a sponsored recruit since you will have to quit your current job to get it.

          Good luck and study hard.

            Good luck.

My best advice for recruits was something that I realized after I got out of the Academy. We all signed up for this profession to catch, chase, and book bad guys, boot doors, being proactive, etc., that's exactly like the Academy. Treat it like you're on the job since you're essentially doing all the same things. EVOC, firearms training, studying/training all the time, report writing, all of that.

Hang tough. Don't quit, no matter how you may feel some day. Make them drop you, and fight that as much as you can.

It's a great career and very rewarding. There will be high and low moments.

              Good luck.

The youngster probably doesn't know what an E Ticket is. My oldest is 22 years and had no idea what one was. Anyone know when Disney went away from ticketing rides?

Back on subject, good luck in the Academy and have a safe career.

Boot camp was easy compared to the CHP Academy + break-in.

thanks for the encouragement, i think the hardest thing for me will be not being with my kids for so long, at least i'll get to go home on the weekends.

Better get accustomed to that, as shift work will keep you from your family for days at a time quite regularly.

Just a few things I can think of:

Don't take the "in-your-face" yelling and screaming you will get from the DI's, personally. It's just a game.

Don't read into your LD test questions. Read them as straight forward as you can. Assumptions and speculation will only confuse you.

Always prep for the next day and if you have to, make a check-off list.

Get plenty of rest and ice up after pt.

Don't do anything before and after class that would remotely get you in trouble (I.e. clubs + drunk + fights + driving). After the dust settles, you will probably be let go.

You're not a cop until sworn. If you encounter a situation, dial 911.

Lastly, despite the pressure of being in the academy, have fun and make friends.

                              Best wishes.
