Unofficial update from reliable LASD source

As Ron-Solo stated, Dep Allende released from hosp. Praying for a speedy full recovery.

Vandenberg, still critical but stable. Hit to shoulder caused extensive tissue, nerve, and arterial damage. Almost lost arm immediately after incident. Things could still go sideways for him. He has regained feeling in 2 fingers. Which is a positive sign. Lets hope he has more of same in near future.

    Prayers continue.

      UPDATE

      As of yesterday. 7-4-16.

As related to me in a sit down face to face over beers with Vandenberg's old partner who has visited him everyday. Rather than a few hurried texts. Who also reminded me that I have met Vandenberg on several occassions at my friends house. But I've met many Deps under those circumstances. And didn't associate the name with the person. Until given a description of "big goofy dutchman who is always laughing and joking". Then the light went on. Oh Yeah, now I remember him, moment.

      [good news]
Deputy Vandenberg no longer critical. Docs think he is past the point of losing the arm.

      [bad news]
But it still remains to be seen if he will ever regain anything approaching full use of arm.

I damn sure wish I had only good news to report.

      Prayers continue.

        Thanks for the update.

PS: I don't always agree with you raton, but you are alright in my book

I know neither of these guys personally. I did get word from a friend who was Dep Vandenberg's partner in Bellflower, before he promoted over to the Carson Stn 2 weeks ago.

Friend spent the night and next day, at the Hosp. in LB after the shooting. For a time it looked like there might be loss of limb due to trauma.

Latest report is that prognosis has improved. Which is good news indeed.

I personally wish SEB has smoked the BG. But considering the hostage situation. Their measured response with no further injuries was a good call.

Will the Deputies ever get "justice" in the revolving door justice system in Ca? That I seriously doubt. This turd will be a hero inside for several yrs then released to victimize others.

Just like the turd that attacked Dep Brandon Love in Lakewood.

          Prayers continue
I seriously doubt he will be getting released anytime soon if ever. As for Deputy Love his attacker was released? This was the incident where the newer deputy was beaten extremely severely, right?

Yes, Deputy Brandon Love was cowardly attacked at Lakewood Mall. By a gang banger that was at the time. Out on probation/parole for "assaulting a police officer".

Whether the little turd that attacked Dep Love has been re-released? That I doubt as of this date.

But he is [1] still alive, and [2] will likely someday be released. That is 2 definite negatives for the safety of ALL Ca citizens.

              UPDATE

              i KNOW IT'S BEEN A MINUTE.

With that said. I though the members here on LEO forum would want to hear. In relation to this question I posted at time of incident in 2016.

It appears this scumsucker will likely die of old age behind bars.

He was sentenced in October 2018 to 221 years to life in state prison as the two deputies who were wounded by the defendant looked on in a Norwalk courtroom.
Last I heard of Dep Vandenberg. Was about a yr ago from his old partner. Encouraging but not excellent. He was back on the job. With "limited duties". He was still working hard to return to full 10-8 status.

              Prayers continue.

I wish people like this convict would die sooner rather than later; but dying behind bars will do.

Hopefully both deputies can keep moving forward and make a full recovery... I recently ran into an old coworker who was shot many years ago... unfortunately he wasn’t able to get back on the street and he was affected so much by the whole thing that his life went into a tailspin for years. He has overcome his wounds and is doing fantastic... it took many years but once he decided he wasn’t going to let the shooting define him anymore he didn’t give up the fight. I hope these deputies have the strength to carry on and continue to enjoy life to the fullest.
