    Riv Co sheriff mentoring program

looks like i'm going to the academy in July, not looking forward to training in the summer heat but oh well. my BI advised me to try to go their mentoring program to see what the academy is going to be like, has anyone attended this or know anything about what goes on?

It's a pre Academy where they teach you how to march, formations, getting yelled at, etc.

If you've been to a military boot camp and are in good shape I don't think it's necessary. But on the other hand I would do everything my bi recommends to show I really want the job.

Pre-academy programs are valuable. They will show you the procedures and protocols for THAT academy in a lower stress environment. Sure beats having to learn it Day 1 when there are consequences attached.

i went, and found out there are only 2 classes left for the session, as the instructor put it i drew the short straw on timing. it was alot of hard PT, i'm feeling it today. the class time was ok but i was way behind on the studies as they already had 8 more weeks of training than i did.
