    incorrect answer to pre-polygraph questions

I met with a local pd for VPAT which I passed. I then went on to speak to an investigator who had 5 interview questions, and then a series of pre-polygraph questions.
There was one question where they asked if I had been fired. I answered no to this because I had accepted a new job before I was let go, however I now feel that this was not the correct answer.
I want to clarify with the polygraph examiner that I had been let go, and the technicalities behind it, but I am scared of getting DQ'd.

I am transitioning from Accounting ( Fortune 10 company) to a local sheriff department.

Unfortunately there is one more. When I got home I discussed the questions with my girlfriend, she pointed out that my answer to a second question was incorrect. The question was: Have you ever had sex in public (including a car).

I said I had, but it had been 3 years since I did.

My girlfriend pointed out that we had sex in a car less than a year ago

AFAIK, the polygraph measures stress indicators which commonly increase when a person knowingly attempts to deceive. If you were not deceptive, but honestly just factually incorrect, I don't think there is a corresponding stress response for the polygraph to detect.

I haven't actually taken the Poly yet. These were pre-poly questions for a test that I believe will happen after I pass the background.
My plan was to tell the examiner that I now know that two of my answers to the pre-poly were incorrect.
I hope this is okay and would not get me DQ'd.

Just be honest at the time you answer your questions. If they differ, just explain it if they question you on it. I would think they would be more concerned if you are trying to deceive them over you not remembering correctly.

Don't stress yourself out over your answers. If you are answering what you remember don't sit there and be nervous you answered "incorrectly" because you could trip the machine. Be honest and be confident in your answers.

Polygraphs are BS, theyre designed to stress you out. Shame on your girlfriend for reminding you of that. Just stay calm and breath. Dont think into the questions or you will stress out even more.

Do you have a background investigator? If so, just let him/her know. Get it off your chest. Then you know you told the truth and have a clear mind about it. I second guessed several answers until I got to the poly. I would remember stuff I did years ago, but hadn't thought about, because I dwelled on it too much.

Well, the fact that you are stressing out about it is reason enough to let the poly guy or background investigator know beforehand. Polygraphs are funny things. Had you not thought about the two issues, youd have done fine. And these are minor things...who cares if you had sex in the car 11 months ago or 3 years ago.

No matter how minor though, its good to contact whoevers leading your hiring process to let them know. At the very least it shows your attempt at complete honesty.

The guy that gave me my polygraph for our local PD dept told me that its about lying nothing else .... Bottom line , its not about what you did or didn't do or how long ago ...What the Polygraph is for is to find out if your going to lie , its about being truthful more than anything .... And I don't care who you are or what you've done .. getting hooked up to a polygraph machine is nerve racking .... your answers should be yes or no ... so as long as you say YES , you have had sex in public your golden ...

That might be true, but if you tell the poky guy sonething didferent than your background investigator, you lied. If he asks the question and puts 4 years out there and you know it was 11 months, you will probably fail.
