23152 Pin

Switched to midnights recently. Long story short, I think I might be becoming the "DUI" guy at night for stops.

I've seen a 23152 pin on uniforms from officers in other jurisdictions, but no one around here has one.

Wondering if anyone has any information or a link for more about it? Can't seem to find much info regarding it online, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to keep it in mind if these arrests start to stack up.

The pin is actually an award from CHP. I forget the requirements. I'm sure one of the other guys know the requirements.

There is one from CHP and one from MADD for the avoid campaign, it used to be 10 arrests in the campaign period that starts just before Christmas till new years. I have 2 of the later somewhere. CHP's is a bit tougher to get, not as hard as a 10851 pin though.

They come from madd each pin is for a given DUI arrest count in a given year. Minimum is 25. It is against CHP policy to wear the pin on the uniform, ironic because that is what they are known for.

Talk to your local MADD office. Starting award is 25 DUI's. Trade DUI crashes with your shift partners for DV's or whatever other paper call you don't particularly want to handle.

Sounds like a "participation trophy" to me.

I do believe its 25 DUI arrests within a one year period.

The 25 in a year is a minimum set by MADD to receive an award from them.

In addition to the 25, the top producer for each department receives the award, regardless of numbers.

You mean back when you didn't have to write a search warrant for every other deuce chemical sample?

They just switched it to 25. It used to be 50. You also get a plaque at 50. When you get 100, you get the century award and the 23152 pin has bars on it.

Not as hard as 10851 pin... that made me laugh.. I stopped putting in for them after my 13th... 2 master pins.

According the Prieto Principle 20% of officers do 80% of the work. 80% of officers do it for the pay check and that only.
