    What is up with CDCR?

Hey I've been processing with CDCR since January 2015. I signed up to fast track to Pelican Bay and they made me do the written test and the physical test, which I passed. I turned in my PHS and I did the PHS verification with them over the phone back in September 2015.
Now I haven't heard back from them since September 2015. Is something going on with them? They would tell me if I wasn't approved right?

Word is the hiring freeze is being lifted, but I can't remember the date. It's supposed to be very soon April or May, if I remember correctly.

No hiring freeze. Just a freeze on taking on new applicants. That should be lifted this month or next month.

Good luck to you new guys! Did my 28 and hit the gate!

Be patient, process can be slow at times but ultimately they will contact you. New application process got pushed to May 2. Many prisons are fully staffed right now. If you get a job offer, take the first offer. It may be you only chance to get your foot in the door.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Lasd, chp, and local pd are hiring also . if you desire to work custody than I would encourage A sheriffs department it will allow both options. if you change your mind and want to go to patrol you can choose to without having to go through another academy. Also if you go through a sheriffs or police academy you will have a full post

A friend has been at Pelican Bay for about six months. It took him about 18 months to get hired, and he also requested Pelican Bay. Hang in there.

OP, I'm in the same boat. I just did my CVSA test last month and now I'm just waiting on a background investigator to contact me. lol I was given the "2 weeks" line when I asked how long till the next step. I didn't choose the fast track path though.

According to their website.. they are going to start taking more applications on May 2nd. That means they might start pushing the paper work around that time frame.
