I find this rather interesting it was easy for them to get all kind of military gear like MRAPS etc and they were not able to upgrade other stuff with all the global warming on terrorism money floating around.

It is unbelievable that citizens have to step up to purchase the equipment for the police. Are agency's financial state that bad?

How about liberal's view on police being too militaristic? I just had to throw that in.

Sounds good in theory but public entities have a habit of squandering any money that comes their way and it ends up NOT going where is is supposed to go.

The City of San Bernardino is bankrupt. They haven't had money to "Squander" for years.

By funds going straight to the point of need. Hopefully that cuts out the local politicians ability to skim for their own purposes.

Weren't the shooters gone when police arrived. California need to be educated on what security is capable before throwing money up against a wall. California is fortunate with all the military that there are highly qualified security able to thwart attacks before they occur. Companies not aware of the capability of security hire unarmed kids to walk around their properties for...show? I employ retired or former combat Marines with patrol experience, CQB experience, exposed and conceal firearms permits and capable of protecting persons and property before LE arrive, if citizens were educated. Most security companies will give you there minimum to make a buck, (Observe and Report) but there are qualified companies that can and are willing to perform protection duties for companies without companies getting together and throwing money at a past cause.

When people try to argue that LE is over-militarized I tell them to say that to the 1999 Ford Taurus I drive for work everyday.
