Any CHP officers here I saw a officer on moto yesterday with a AR mounted on the side saddle . Wondering how long the dept has been doing this . I figured after San Bernardino incident more officers would be armed more but it was cool to see it on a motorcycle.

I live in Jackson and saw a city motorcycle cop with the same set up a couple of weeks ago
A rack mounted on the bike behind the rider with an upright AR strapped to it . -
Not sure when CHP started but most Leo's in my area carry AR's and have for many years. My local pd had a ND when a kid pulled the trigger on one while a Motor officer was at a school, since then they changed the mounts so it hopefully won't happen again."People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."Comment

I saw an Irvine PD motorcycle cop carrying both a shotgun and an AR15 on the back of his motorcycle on highway 73, Laguna Canyon highway the other day. It was cool but didn't look cool the way they were mounted.Comment

I can't speak for all agencies, but the three I've worked for and the many i've trained with, the rifle is not chambered while mounted in the vehicle, cruiser or bike.
