Someone shot out my rear window. Advice please.

Truck is parked in my Dad's driveway. My brother just called me and sent me pics. Looks like a group of three shots possibly by a bb/pellet gun. Do I just file a police report?

You will probably be directed to an on-line reporting system, I'm assuming they have those down south like we do up here. It's a good idea to report it just in case they start having a rash of these incidents, and do end up eventually catching someone. If they can link all the incidents into something it may go somewhere.

I suggest you do so. Unlikely they will ever catch the turd that did it. But they add crime stats into their patrol schedules. To better cover areas with problems.

I'm not a cop, just a citizen that wants the cops to have all info possible to do their jobs most efficiently.

Just last week, a turd punched out the lock on my truck door. Didn't steal anything. I called PD and they came out did prints and took report.

They thanked me for letting them know. Seems a pattern is developing in my area of this crap. If they don't know, they can't help.

small neighborhood? Main street? Could this be a coincidence or intentional?
Has your pops given the bird to any teens lately? That looks like an intentional direct shot, not a oops or a drive by prank. Don't look too deep into all this, just stay aware. =o)

This is a common technique for thieves similar to the use of moon rocks to test the alarms and security of the area. Stay on the lookout over the next month or so.

Yes, file a police report. Not much they can do other than document for follow-up incidents and pile on if they catch the perps.

Do you know of any LE agency that by policy can opt to "not even bother taking a report" if the victim of a crime wants one?

A lot of crime reports are whodunits with little to no workable information, but it is still a crime and the victim still has a right to obtain a report if desired.
