    Remember Hoyt?

I know many of you started with semiauto pistols. Here is my holster for 6 inch revolver that I started with in 1980s. The department issued me a 4 inch model 67, but I used a 6 inch one. The other holster next to the Hoyt is Nelson that is almost the same as Hoyt.

They also issued me a PR-24. I have never used a expandable baton.

    It brings back the memories.

I think I have one of the last holster's they made. They built me a high ride holster for a USP .45 in '97 or '98. It is the best fitting holster I have ever used. Still have it somewhere, but sadly don't have a gun to put in it.

I still have my Hoyt. Best break front holster out there. Lightening fast draw.

I had a 686 when I worked the jails, but I never used it on the streets. We went to Glocks about a year after I was hired. I don't remember what holster I had, but those pics look familiar.

            Hoyt

Same here. Still have mine and the model 19 I carried in it. That was the best holster around back then. Nice looking also

Yep, Hoyt was the holster to have. I still have the mid-shank swivel for a 6 inch 586. Very comfortable.

The Hoyt was definitely a cut above all of the rest. When I worked patrol, I was quite thin (unlike today) and most holsters with a belt slot held the weapon far too away from my body. I discussed this Hoyt and they made a holster of a scabbard design that fit real close. I used that holster right up to the day we switched to Berettas.

I never did like the Hoyt swivels. I was working with a partner who wore one. We detained a bunch of gangsters on the hood of our patrol unit. I was maintaining the cover role, while my partner was searching the gangsters. Something just didn't look right, and it took me a couple of seconds to figure it out. I could see the upper part of his Hoyt swivel holster on his belt, but I could only see as far as the swivel stud. The lower part of the holster, and his weapon, wasn't there. I looked around as best I could without telegraphing anything and finally saw the holster and weapon stuck in space between the passenger seat and the door pillar. I kept a stone face through the course of the detention, and after we released the gangsters, I had to ask my partner the simple question "where's your gun?"

Carried the 4" Model 19 Nickle in the Hoyt with the Outside Thumb Break. Was once told by a suspect at the end of a Felony T-Stop ---"Dayaaam! I'd Be proud to gets shot by that"!

Brings back memories... we went from Revolvers and Hoyt holsters right to Semi-Autos and a Safariland SSIII. No matter how much range time with the transition and even practice driving around in the radio car to "rock back and pull straight up" could set you up for the first draw under stress. Yup... I tried to push that pistol right through the front of the holster.

On a positive note we didn't have any more officers with their holster unsnapped and in a foot chase have their weapon "fall out' of the holster.

I remember when I transitioned from the revolver to Beretta 92F pistol. My score went down about 30 points initially. It eventually came back up, but it was not easy to adjust.

Holster changed about three times due to accidental discharge. I knew it is not the holster issue for sure.

I must say, your holsters are still in remarkable shape. I've only had my current holster for three years and it looks like poo poo. It's all scuffed and peeling and such

                          I've got a 4" non-swivel for a K-frame that I'm thinking about selling if anyone needs one.

I only had the holster for a few months. Then , the dept went to Beretta 92F series. The holster has been in the closet for all this time. I found it not long ago, after over 25 years.

Ah. That makes more sense. Although I am kind of reckless at times and a consistent hunter so I tend to wear out my gear faster than my compadres.

Cool holster though. Have you practiced drawing from it?
