Bail out bags, how many extra pistol, shotgun, rifle mags?

What does your bail out bag consist of and why? im giving two scenarios. One is a city cop bail out bag and the other is a suburbs cop bail out bag, if there would be a difference?

I just carried one box of pistol ammo, few extra rounds of shotgun shells. I carried extra radio batteries, MRE, 1 Liter of water, couple of power bars, rain poncho, boonie hat, roll of toilet paper, extra battery for flash light, gas mask, extra forms, etc. Never needed more ammo than what I had on my belt (3 magazines- 45 rounds plus one in the chamber).

When I first went to patrol, I carried a bail out bag with pistol and shotgun ammunition (pistol ammo in magazines) as well as snacks, flashlight batteries, and an extra pair of cuffs.

By the time I left patrol I had a drop/thigh rig for shotgun ammunition (which also had some Trauma supplies and pistol mags) and a rifle vest with six AR magazines, a pistol magazine, flex cuffs, water, some non-perishable food, trauma supplies, flashlight, etc. It was for both active shooters and containments/deployments.

If I was still in patrol I would substitute my current plate carrier with level IV plates for the rifle vest. The shotgun rig would stay the same unless I wasn't AR certified, in which case I'd have my plate carrier set up for shotgun.

I would still carry a small bag up front but it would contain support supplies... Maybe some extra ammunition, but mainly food, water, batteries, etc. Something I could carry if I had to post somewhere but that if dropped I could keep going.

Active shooter or longer term containment? I'm assuming you're not running slick like a P&T or down;aod detective. Also what weapon systems do you carry (AR, shotgun, 37/40mm,...)

Either should start with a plate carrier running rifle plates, 3 AR mags (or equivalent 12 gauge ammo), 3 pistol, trauma kit and a small pry bar (Broco Jimmy is nice). If you have a "special" weapon or gear carry extra ammo (or whatever) for it too.

If you are talking about a longer term perimeter or search you can supplement the above with small sling pack or MOLLE attached pack: bottle of water, power bar, batteries, maybe some more ammo.
