After searching via Google for the answer to whether or not peace officers were allowed to take drugs during an investigation (undercover), I came across this forum. However, the post had expired. I thought I'd refresh it, but address it specifically to vice.
I believe both vice and DEA have specific rules that they may be able to address or enlighten us with. If one asks any other specific division or area, I'd say it's hard to tell.
I wouldn't pay attention to anyone except those in vice or DEA. I will tell you this, I was a probation officer in Orange County California. My brother was a California Highway Patrol Officer. Both of us were drug tested when we were hired and after being accused by those being arrested of improprieties of which we were innocent. Our cousin and step-father were corrections officers. They were random drug tested. I would only trust a vice officer to answer this question, as they may have had different experiences entirely. Furthermore, both my brother and myself were required to have a college degree for our separate jobs. If you have a difficult time reading someone's post because that individual has a challenge with grammar and/or spelling, chances are he or she isn't a peace officer. Obviously one might come across a peace officer that has a typo here or there, but that's different from someone whose post is hardly legible.
