    Should've gone 10-8 tonight

I should have jumped on a pay job tonight with my department. Ugh, I really don't care much for the usual New Year's Eve "Activities" lol.

For those of you working tonight, stay safe out there.

I'm on vacation for the first time in 7 years during new years eve. I don't know what to do. Feel like I should be at work. I also don't care to be out on this night.
Stay safe all who are 10-8 tonight.

I have worked the Rose Parade several times, both pre-parade and the day of. Long hours, but they always put me on the parade route. It was okay..

Truth. When I was the W/C on NYE at about 2345hrs we'd all do a drive thru and go to a multi level parking structure in town. We'd be on the 3rd level with the 4th level above us for protection. When the clock struck midnight it was like downtown Baghdad.

Before anyone pipes in with hate, yes, we did break out of there for emergency calls if necessary.

We park under concrete freeway overpasses in my city. Until the gunfire dies down around 0015 hours.

Had New Years off for the first time in a while. Spent it at home with the wife and kids.

                  Stay safe.

After many years of working the holidays, I finally got the seniority to get them off. Been awhile since I had to work them, it's 0256 just got home from a fun New Years party. Thank god for a 17 year old DD.
To everyone who had to work, thank you and your day will come.

We also would park underneath parking structures until the local media found out. They ran with a story that made us look bad, so our command made us do "Gunfire Suppression". It was 4 man units rolling through the hood chasing reports of shots fired, and also getting shot at. Extremely stupid and it did not last long.

I always thought it was interesting to hear full auto weapons being fired in the hood on New Years. Sounded like a war Zone.

Guess my customers took the holiday off. Slow both the 31st and the 1st.

I always worked off-duty gigs during the holidays.

The pay was good, the work was easy,...mostly corporate related parties...lots of good looking women and party dresses, and the hotel I always worked at always fed me well

For the last 15 years, I have taken off between Christmas and the new year's day, except being on call a few occasions. But, I know how it feels to work on those holidays.
