Quick question. Those listed under 3200(b)(6)(a) through 3200(b) were able to purchase off roster for YEARS until the DOJ sent out the memo last year. Proforce WAS selling off roster handgun to anyone as long as you have the word "peace officer" on your ID. What about those off roster handgun purchased prior to the DOJ sent out the memo? Can you still transfer to a non-exempt person?

Slow Implementation of AB 2165
If you go to the DOJ's Firearms Bureau webpage and look under;
Firearms Dealer Information and Tools
State Exemptions for Authorized Peace Officers
Non-Roster Handgun (Unsafe Handgun) Exemptions Criminal penalties may attach to persons who sell, purchase, give, or otherwise transfer a non-roster handgun. However, there are three groups of public entities that may purchase non-roster handguns. The prerequisites for purchase, the eligibility of sworn members of the entities to purchase non-roster handguns for personal use, and the restrictions on resale vary. For complete details please see California Penal Code section 32000, et seq.
The list of peace officers shown doesn't reflect the changes made with the passing of AB 2165. They still haven't updated the website that Firearms Dealers go to for information. It has been almost 3 months since it's implementation.
I've sent them an email regarding this "oversight", I would recommend other "2nd class" LEOs do the same.

Are LA COUNTY probation officers or detention officers allowed to have high capacity magazines. Magazines that hold more than 10 roundsComment

Yes. LA co GSN, DSO, Sr. DSO, DPO I, DPO II, Trans Dep, Sr. Trans Dep, Sup Trans Dep, SDSO, SDPO, Asst. DIR, DIR and above are all peace officers under PC 830.5. They may purchase and possess standard cap magazines. Investigator aid series are civilian employees and may not purchase or possess over 10 round mags.The work ID will state on the face that they are a peace officer under CPC 830.5. If their ID does not say that, then they are not a peace officer.Last edited by CaptMike; 04-06-2017, 9:58 PM.A life is not important, except for the impact it has on other lives- Jackie RobinsonComment
