I'm kinda thinking AB109 was state sending a message to counties "STOP SENDING US SO MANY CRIMINALS!" (because now it wont cost us, it will cost you).

But again I'm still wondering about how they now get away with jails that don't have all the features for a long prison stay. I'm guessing stuff like medical treatment now costs double, because you gotta have LEOs playing Soccer Mom and chauffeuring them to local clinics for minor stuff.

Part of the reason prop 47 passed is that only 17% of the state of california voted it in. It passed with a majority of about 60% of the votes. therefore, about 9% of the total registered voters in california decided the fate of the rest of us.

Those 9% were the extreme liberals of this state. If people got off their rear ends and actually voted, stupid laws like prop 47 would not pass. I have spoken to too many people that always say that they dont bother voting because their vote doesnt matter. This attitude is what guarantees that their lack of voting does mean something. It means that the 9% of fools that fall for the media will continue to pass that liberal agenda and that this state will continue to go down the path of ultimate destruction. Those 9% of voters are not affected by prop 47 in their private and gated communities. They can afford to have private security protect them from criminals. The true victims of prop 47 are the lower socioeconomic classes. They have to live in the neighborhoods where all this crime is now happening. Go on to the lapd compstat system and have it show you how many people have been murdered in the last 6 months. You will see that the gated communities are doing well and areas like south LA and east LA are listing hundreds of deaths. It is getting to the point of now callung these neighborhoods war zones. We are losing more young men in theae areas than over seas in real war zones.

Get off your rear ends and participate in the system. If you choose not to vote, then you have no right to ***** and complain.

      Off my soap box.

Well it wasn't really the state's idea. They were forced to shed the prison population by the feds. It's just that IMHO they didn't think it through or address the issue soon enough.

In regard to the influx of long term commitments in Co. Jails it varies from jurisdiction how exactly this pans out. What seems to be a general event is that the facility tends to kick a lot of people before their sentence is up (not 1170h folks, but people who are in on misdos or weekenders). Also a lot of people pending Parole and/or probation violations will get kicked and ordered to report to their PO instead of sitting in the facility. Bottom line is, more convicted criminals on the streets.
