    Santa Ana PD 681

    Hello
Did Santa Ana PD ever use the 681?

    If so:

    What grips were issued?

When did they start issuing them?

    What replaced it?

I am just curious because I just bought a 681-1 and it has Santa an PD marked on it. The stamp kinda looks cheesy so I wasn't sure if it was real. I plan on sending in the letter to get the history from S&W, but until then, just wondering if you guys had insight. I'll post the usual terrible photos that this iPad takes later on.

Don't know; but curious to see what you find out about your firearm!

Yes, SAPD issued 681's and 686's in the late 70's all the 80's and started switching to semi-autos in early 1990's. I went to the OCSD academy in 1990 with five guys from SAPD and all had 681's.............Neat gun!
