SoCal Agencies That Pay Well and Have Great Benifits?

I'm just trying to see what other agencies in SoCal that pay well and have great benifits. I'm currently in a non-sworn position at my agency, but do quite a few things our sworn counter-parts do like various reports (CHP-180, incident, and etc.) and other things. Anyways, I plan on applying for a sworn position in the near future, but should things not work out with my agency, I'd be looking else where in SoCal for a sworn position.

The benifits are pretty damn goodly my agency. We get close to $800 in uniform allowance per year and almost $900 per month for health benifits. We also just got a new contract that will increase our salary 10% in the next 4 years. So, is there any agencies that pay well and have great benifits?

You can always check their county or city website...
Sheriff's Department, check their sheriff's association...
City, check their human resource website...

I believe it's a public job so they have to list those information.

            Hey OP, jfyi, it's benEfits..

"well" and "great" are subjective And relative. Look up a list of all LE agencies in So Cal and then try checking their individual agency websites for the info you're looking for...

Thanks...BTW if ALADS raises their membership dues after the pathetic raise they "got" us I think a good number of Deputies are going to seriously look at jumping ship to LASPA or some other union...

OP: talk to a number of line deputies/officer wherever you are applying to. they will give you a better sense of what the department is like.

Hey Spec, problem is that even if we go with another organization, since alads shamalammed (is that how it's spelled?) "agency shop", they're still gonna take their cut out of our pay checks... and yeah, any/all of the extremely mediocre and intermittent raises that we get are offset by the apparently automatic (and secretive) fee hikes by alads... actually

(btw, Retired, sorry for using the F word to describe alads Sir! - they infuriate me)

$74k out of the academy. Lots of ot as well, depending on your station. Raises every year @5%, caps at $92k. I know one Officer that pulled down $175k in a year with OT. Incentives for bilingual, school, and lots of other stuff.

                          Check with 1-800-ADEPUTY OR WWW.LASD.ORG

I think hiring is always on.

I don't know how much they make as an entry level LEO, but I got paid $2,150 a month when I started. Of course I make a lot more than that now.

I can't recommend LASD ether. I'm hard pressed recommending law enforcement as a carrer in todays political climate also. But for some its a calling that drives one to be a leo, regardless of what is going on. A friend of mine is a Capt at Torrance PD. They pay well and only hire the best of applicants.
