    Lighting of LE Pistol Range

I have been using the Orange County Sheriff's pistol range, which is open to the public, and have a question about the lighting. It seems to me that there is less light from behind me than at a civilian indoor range. Is there a reason or am I imagining the difference in lighting?

There's no LE design lighting technique, just how it was built at the time. The LE range at the facility has fully programmable lighting (and other affects).

The Katella range uses natural light for the majority of lighting. On most days, the mostly open down range area provides much more light in front of you than behind. By comparison the shooters area appears darker. Katella is more similar to a well covered outdoor range than with an indoor range.

Thanks for the explanation, mixicus . Whatever the lighting is, its a nice place to shoot with some good equipment, good people, and for a good fee. The lighting may just incidentally force me to focus more on my sights than on the target.
