    Drop leg bail out bag

I'm looking for recommendations on a drop leg bail out bag. Seems to make the most sense to grab and clip something on rather then carry a small bag full of some shtf stuff. Any good ideas out there or bags someone could recommend? In it will be a few handgun mags ar mags shotgun shells and a few medical supplies.

I had one for awhile.. ...even with minimal equipment (couple rifle mags, personal trauma kit, flex cuffs) it was bulky and made running almost impossible.

I upgraded to a molle vest. Extra body armor that can get quickly thrown over the uniform, and easily/comfortably carries more than a drop leg could. I carry it in the trunk, the theory that when rolling into a hot scene I can stop a block out, don the vest and grab the rifle. Deployed it once at an incident, from the car camera timestamp it was 26 seconds from throwing it in park to pulling away wearing the vest with racked rifle in my lap.

Having said that, take a look at the Ops Deck for LEO medical/active shooter bailout rigs. Good people, ordered a number of times from them.

That is going to be a little big for a thigh rig set up. I have a thigh rig with three pistol mags and three AR mags. Pretty much maxed out weight and size wise. I suppose I could drop one AR mag and one pistol mag to make room for a first aid kit, but there would not be much in it. maybe some scissors, kwik clot, bandage and a tourniquet.

I use something like this and customized it with molle mag pouches

        http://www.511tactical.com/thigh-rig.html?SID=hc3j34234kump72083nnr1jjn1&___store=d efault&___from_store=australia

I leave the clip portion on my trouser belt, I also use the same clip for my gas mask. So I can clip either my thigh rig or my gas mask to the same location depending on which I need at the moment.

I got the idea from an older guy who was out on patrol for a while. He said he used to have a gas mask with a d ring on it and would flip and run if he needed too. I have a Molle vest already set up was just looking for something a little more grab and go.

Zak tool makes a pretty nifty drop leg hookup thing.

I made something similiar in the shop to fit the loops on a molle pack

yeah a D-ring for a gas mask is fine, because it does not really matter if the gas mask flops around a little bit, but the thigh rig will need to be a little more secure and make sure it does not rotate and flop while you run.

I use those large 2" clips because they are interchange, I have the attachment on my pants belt and can make up any type of thigh rig, gas mask, 37mm launcher round bag to attach to my belt with ease.

                  Good luck

I use a bail-out bag that has a sling like these instead of the classic tool bag type BOB. This way regardless of how I'm dressed (Class B, suit, tac gear, plain,...), I can easily use it. As opposed to needing my SB with a hook or strap installed.

Sotechtactical.com. They make several ammo thigh rigs. Tripple pistol mags, tripple mag/shot shell holder, AR15 mag holder. They also make thigh rigs for tasers and gas masks, all with the same belt clip. You can have the same clip on your belt for diffrent rigs.

Thigh rigs are the way to go over the old canvas tool bag full of ammo. Imagine manipulating a long gun while holding a purse.

The latest trend though is plate carriers with mag holders on it.

I like this idea. How much additional drop does it add on? In my experience, drop legs tend to be a tad too low making it, as you said earlier, nearly impossible to run.

My primary IFAK is of the drop-leg variety and I have yet to find a suitable replacement for the terrible method of securing to my leg. Practically hangs down to my knees.

It's a bit bulky, but has the essentials for gunshot trauma. I have FA kits everywhere for more minor things.

If you keep the snap buckle already on your sam brown this goes on in seconds and is very sturdy, does not shift at all, holds everything you need - IFAK, Mags, etc. Rides very high and has a single legs strap. Buy once cry once.

Drop leg bags are impactical. They only look cool but like others had said before, when you are running, its a pain in the *** cause they are moving around so much. Stick to over the shoulder BOB
