body armor?

For you leo's out there can you wear what every body armor you want ,let's say something like dragon skin for example ?

We can (within reason)if we want to pay for it. But the issued IIIA is good enough for me.

OK good, I always wondered if it was like the military where you can only wear issued plates thanks for the info.

I'm not sure I was just using dragon skin as an example .I'm sure there is superior pruducts out by now .

It has to be department approved armor.

Most common example around here is up-armoring with rifle plates on an active shooter rig.
