Deputy Darren Goforth, 47, was pumping gas about 8:30 p.m. Friday when a man approached him from behind and fired multiple shots, Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesman Ryan Sullivan told The Associated Press.

Murdering cops because they are cops should be causing a huge condemnation from liberal media. If the cop had been Matthew Shepherd, it'd be all over news and Hollywood whack jobs would be all over TV condemning the murder of a homosexual.

There should be two death sentences carried out within one year of conviction: killing of a child and killing of a cop. That means all appeals have to be heard within one year. And death is the only option upon conviction.

I keep telling myself to carry my gun. I haven't yet done it. I know I'd feel worse that horrible were I to have seen a guy about to ambush a cop and couldn't stop it.

I was mentioning it to friends tonight how dangerous it is with the harsh public sentiment and political atmosphere we currently have. You can cut the public's tension/hostility with a knife right now.

As for the person who posted stats, well, unless you have gone to a cop funeral and seen the family cry, you can take those stats and cram them. I, just like everyone on this board, want to make it home to our loved ones in one piece.
