    I would not be surprised to see in my lifetime all cops under direct control of US DOJ. As it is now, all law enforcement functions at the acquiescence of the feds. If the feds don't like the way a local agency operates, it will deny grant money necessary keep it viable. The latent threat of a federal investigation is another control scheme of local law enforcement.

    Lest we forget, our Founding Fathers discussed and dismissed creating a federal police agency. They had just vanquished king George III. One of the reasons of the American Revolution was oppressive and barbaric tactics of the king's royal troops agains British subjects. (We were all British subjects until Cornwallis surrendered.) Our Founding Fathers wanted no part of such a scheme in the once sovereign nation that they've created.
    Interesting. Worth noting then how many agencies lately are turning to the Fed's to help them "investigate" OIS's... If people hate the po-po now; just wait until (if/when yadayada) it is federalized... or at least worked under some kind of direct federal oversight.

      The latest 19 yr old whack job in Tx, that drove his families car through the front of a Buick dealership. Vandalized dealership vehicles on video by jumping up and down on them. Kicking in windshields etc.

      Officers arrived and were attacked by the same said whack job. Scuffle ensues. Shots fired, one less whack job in the world.

      And because the whack job was a black college ball player.

      The FBI was involved within 2 DAYS. WTF. Can't even get a ballistics report in 2 days. Let alone a toxicology report, which takes weeks.

      Security video of the damage the whack was doing has been released. Video of the actual shooting is being withheld until investigation is complete.

      Sadly the whack didn't slice his femural artery while climbing through broken windshield and bleed out before officers arrived.

        With prop 47 theres little point in being super proactive. If I catch you with meth and a pipe the DA wont even file unless its a decent amount of meth. Why am I going to risk my life and stress myself out with paperwork to go stopping cars and digging for dope?

        As far as the minimum, we have so few patrol Deputies and so many calls for service, I know many Deputies that take people for drunk in public when they are caught DUI just to avoid the 4 hours of paperwork and BS that comes with doing a DUI report. No one ever said anything (even though its kinda wrong imo)

          Saw that one... I'm gonna go with high as a kite. Which is very dangerous when coupled with an apparent athlete in good shape. Still, that obviously doesn't give law enforcement a simple green light to shoot. I'm curious to see what transpired during the actual struggle.

            Apathy and burnout are the biggest issues facing LEO's today. Cops have always suffered from it, but now it is the worst.

              Officer fired. He was probationary. IMO, the brass was more intertested in what the;
