Off Roster pistol question

I know LEO's are exempt from this law but I had a question on something a gun store worker said to me. Can LEo's still get AR pistol? I had a worker mention to me that LEO's would be able to get a scorpion EVO if there was a way to install a bullet button. Any knowledge or comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they can, however if for personal use and in order to not make it an AW. . .

Bullet button is required because the magwell is outside of the pistol grip.

Standard capacity mags cannot be utilized because the bullet button classifies the magazine as a "fixed" magazine.

30515. (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, "assault weapon" also

(4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a
detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor,
forward handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely
encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon
without burning the bearer's hand, except a slide that encloses the
barrel.
(D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location
outside of the pistol grip.
(5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the
capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

AR pistols are still available to everyone (not just LEOs) via SSE 2.0. Of course, certain AR pistols (those which have been manufactured as semi autos) can't be SSEd but, many can.

Normally yes but, an AR pistol which has never been a semi auto or a single shot can be converted to a SS. I really doubt that this has or will happen but, it is possible.
