Hiring Process.

Hi guys I am in the hiring process right now for LAPD. I am currently in the background Investigation part of it, I am very nervous and excited at the same time . I first applied October of last year so I have bin in the process for some time but its going to be worth the wait if all goes well.

PQE- Passed
PBI- Passed
Pat1- Passed
Dept Interview - Passed
Polygraph - Passed
MED/Pat 2- Passed
Bi Meet & Greet- Done 6/3
Background finished and turned in 7/9
Background Cleared 7/15
**Scheduled for a psychological Friday **

The BI basically IS the hiring process. Most normal people can pass the first 5 or 6 parts.

Oh and also spoke to my gf over the phone it's all going good so far.

Update# Last Wednesday my BI called me to tell him was done with my background Investigation.
Today I got the call to go in Friday for my oral psychological

Any info on what to expect also appreciated.

Never heard of an oral physiological...maybe it's an LAPD thing....unless you are talking about the medical exam but I don't remember the physician looking inside the oral cavity


Most departments have a written and oral psychological where you take a long test and meet the psychologist who interviews you and see if you can handle the job mentally. You can't prepare for that, just answer truthfully and be yourself.

OP, a little advice about the psych, don't think about the questions too much or you will drive yourself crazy. It's normal to feel crazy leaving there. The Dr may try to jam you up to see how you react. Just be honest and don't over analyze the questions. Your BGI will be going over your psych results to see if there are any discrepancies to what you told him vs. what you tell the Dr. AGAIN don't over analyze the questions and be consistent with your answers they ask many of the same questions many different ways and there are hundreds of questions. Get a lot of sleep the night before and good luck.
